With SmartID+, users log in using a dynamic QR code or, on a mobile device, are automatically redirected to the Smart-ID app. This makes user authentication more secure and makes it more difficult for fraudsters to initiate logins or trick users into approving unauthorized actions.
As many modern scams rely on deceiving people, user awareness remains just as important as secure technical solutions. We recommend always checking which action the Smart-ID app is asking you to confirm and never sharing your PIN codes with anyone.
SmartID+ is currently available in Inbank's Estonian Internet Bank and will soon be introduced in the Latvian and Lithuanian Internet Banks as well.
We also recommend keeping your Smart-ID app up to date and using multiple authentication methods whenever possible. This helps ensure continued access to Internet Banking if one authentication method becomes temporarily unavailable, for example due to a lost phone, device replacement, or another unexpected situation.
